Vantage Point historian Eric Abrahamson discussed the history of impact investing at an evening gathering of the San Diego Grantmakers’ San Diego Impact Investors Network on March 21, 2019. Drawing on extensive research and writing during two decades of work on the history of philanthropy, Abrahamson examined the roots of impact investing. He pointed out how many contemporary concerns about philanthropic accountability and the efficacy of market-based philanthropic strategies extend back nearly a century.
