The rate of homeownership in the United States continued a multi-year decline in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to data released by the U.S. Census. Homeownership was down a tenth of a percent to 65.4 percent. The rate has dropped almost four percent from its peak of 69.2 in the fourth quarter of 2004.
